Something Weill This Way Comes… bringing in its wake songs of love and hopefulness, tinged with (yet somehow overcoming) a touch of ennui. And we are on: chanteusey-operatic Lisa Daehlin and pianist Richard Pearson Thomas in an evening of cabaret, musical theatre, art song. The strains of Kurt Weill provide the backbone to this evening’s muse, inviting you to a musical journey flowing (some might say “spewn”) from the pens of composers old, new, borrowed, and (at times, most definitely) blue. Gird up your loins, get ready to channel your inner Pirate Jenny, we’re burrowing through that age old and endlessly fascinating topic of love, loss, power picked up and shattered along the way. It’ll be fun (Cole Porter will certainly have something to say about it).
