The technique of Tunisian Crochet is a hybrid of knitting & crochet, resulting in a fabric with a woven quality in its most traditional version and a lace-like quality when using openwork techniques. In this 3-hour workshop, learn how to make the basic Tunisian Crochet stitches (simple/knit/purl), increases/decreases, work in the round for making your very own cowl (or several for holiday gift-giving). PREREQUISITE: Know how to make a chain and single crochet. SUPPLIES: Double-ended Tunisian (afghan) crochet hook (large size I, or J), two balls of dk or worsted weight yarn (different colors).
INSTRUCTOR: Lisa Daehlin is a knitting designer & opera chanteuse. She teaches in venues including the Studio Arts Workshop at Newark Museum, PS122 Gallery, Harlem Knitting Circle, Vogue Knitting Live, and the American Folk Art Museum in New York. A continuing education faculty member at The Cooper Union for seven years, she has the honor of having been the first teacher of knitting and crochet courses at this historic institution. A sought-after designer of knitted and crocheted fabrics and objects, she free-lances for the fashion industry and retail design.
