Tunisian Crochet Sampler Quilt by Lisa Daehlin for Interweave book by Crochet Insider
I’ve posted previously about this, and am happy to see yet another blog from Interweave talking about Dora Ohrenstein’s soon to be released book on Tunisian Crochet. Dora invited me to contribute a design to this multi-contributor book on a technique that is experiencing something of a renaissance.
Tunisian Crochet (also, know as Shepherd’s Knitting, Afghan Crochet, Crochet Tunisienne, among a few other names) is a hybrid of knitting and crochet, as is the tool used to make it. It’s also the title of one of the songs in the “Twisted Stitch: Songs of Love and Knitting” performance I’m slated to give (with Richard Pearson Thomas at the keys) at Cornelia Street Cafe on Tuesday, January 29th, 8:30pm. Stefania de Kenessey has composed a cycle of songs, each one waxing on about different knitting and crochet techniques. Check us out live in concert for this world premiere event. And check out Dora’s book. Here’s a photo of the sampler quilt/afghan I designed and stitched for the book…..

Hi Lisa
I corresponded with you a while ago when I mentioned that Victoria de los Angeles was a great knitter. Now i see that you are going to perform a work about knitting. I wish I could attend but Italy is a bit far away, although i come to NY regularly. May I feel free to send you any songs in the future? The work I wrote for Frederica von Stade is on youtube called Dark Summer if you care to check it out.
Best wishes
