Hot off the presses: Tunisian Crochet Sampler Quilt / Afghan by Lisa Daehlin

Tunisian Crochet Sampler Quilt Afghan design by Lisa Daehlin for The New Tunisian Crochet Book
HOT OFF THE PRESSES from Interweave is “The New Tunisian Crochet: Contemporary Designs for Time-Honored Traditions” by Dora Ohrenstein. Dora invited me to contribute a design to her book. The resulting Tunisian Crochet Sampler Quilt/Afghan by Lisa Daehlin is one of the images featured in an interview of the author on the Interweave site. I chose to incorporate variations of tunisian, including lace (I do love the lace! whether in knitting or crochet, and this technique truly is a hybrid of those two sister arts), intarsia, faux/surface cabling, bobbles, fanwork, open colorwork, etc. One of my favorite blocks is the one that I think looks like waterlilies. As in any “sampler” project (whether crochet, cross-stitch or croissant tasting) working your way through these blocks will teach you an awful lot about the subject matter – in this case, you’ll learn many avenues of Tunisian Crochet. So, go, pick up a bag of some really good croissants, a copy of this book, and indulge heartily!
