In the fifteen years since improvising was designated a national standard for music education in the U.S., arguably much or little has changed–depending on who you talk to. This panel asks the question of what those changes, regarding the broad range of improvisational practices, might and should be for K-12 education. Panelists will speak in response to current developments in commercial culture, technology, globalization, and education reform.

Performance – 7:30pm
DR. BERT KONOWITZ, Director
The TC Spirit Improv Ensemble with special-guest singers from the Music & Music Ed program will be performing “Sounds of America,” a program including works by Leonard Bernstein, George Gershwin, Dizzy Gillespie, and Stephen Sondheim.
